Ultimate Tournement in Heidelberg: Heidies Cup

7./8. June, 2003

Once again a small group of brave group of Deckel Drehers found themselves on a hot ultimate playing field. This time the location was Heidelberg and the time was Pentacost Weekend. It was a coed tournement with 2 skirts on the line. Good thing we had 2 (at least for Saturday!). Thanks to both of our women: Kati for coming all the way for one day and then stressfully zooming back to work in Dresden at 8:00 am, and Katarina for playing every game with very little break! I think the borrowed women that played with us also deserve a thanks.

Anyway, it was a hard tournement for us. We didn't play that bad on Saturday, but it was hot and we didn't have much chance to take breaks during the games. After a depressing blow out against the Woodies I think we really didn't mentally recover. In the end I think we were 12th from 14.

The Highlight of the weekend was our evening in Heidelberg. After bringing Kati to the train station, we walked through old city Heidelberg. We had dinner at an Italian and then went to look at the castle. Somehow we got kicked out of the terrase overlooking Heidelberg (I guess we shouldn't have walked through the red tape). At least we got in some passes in the castle. At dark there were some nice fireworks over the Neckar River. Afterwards, we had an apitite and went out for ice cream, Döner, and freedom fries. Somehaow Matthias got lost with his freedom fries. We found him later the parking garage. Afterwards we went to the party and then to bed. It was a good evening to recover from some blow out games.

Make sure to read about my interesting way back to Dresden!
