Although I have travelled along the Elbe between Dresden and Meißen a couple times since the flood last year, I haven't really had a chance to check out the condition of the path any further. That's why I decided to ride to Riesa along the Elbe-Radweg on my way to Halle for a Frisbee-Tounement. The Condition of the path is fine untill you aproach Riesa (except for a couple really annoying course cobble stone paths, which have always been there). Just before Riesa there are a few places along the dam where the asphalt has cracked or the cobble stone has fallen in:
There are also some paths that are unpaved, that I think were paved before (I think). I have also heard that the path is even more dammaged after Riesa. I guess I'll find ou next week when I ride to Magdeburg for another Frisbee-Tournement. Hopefully it won't be to long before the damage will be repaired and the path can be further built!
As usual the Elbe-Radweg was very pleasant and you can travel pretty fast without much stress. I used this short friday bike trip to finish reading the book I've been working on (Farenheit 451: a fast reading book by Ray Bradbury with an interesting prediction of the future from 1950). I also took time to stop to smell the roses as well to take a couple pictures along the way!
